A Quick Update

Surgery day is coming up. It is such a personal thing that I have not known how to say it all without embarrassing myself. So I have just not updated for awhile. If I could sit down with each of you as a friend I would most likely tell you all about it. Suffice it to say that this step will be a good thing. And the best thing about it...I don't have to have chemo for a month! HOORAY!!!

Karen and my mom will have my little kids at their respective houses for the next few days. And then the ward is helping provide day care for Drew and Mary for the next 2 weeks! I hope I don't need that much help. But people are so anxious to do things for us. It is just amazing. I am so grateful for everyone and everything. We are so very blessed to have such wonderful friends and neighbors.

Easter Party

We had a very fun day on Saturday at my mom and dad's. Tom and Darcee and family, Dave and Julianna and family, Joe and Kelsie and Binks were there. Dennis, Jeffrey and Brandon came later on in the day because of their involvement with a merit badge pow wow that morning.

These eggs were made with 100% silk ties purchased at a thrift store. You cut a tie so you have enough fabric to wrap one boiled egg. Secure it around the egg with a twist tie. Then cover that in a square of muslin with a twist tie. Boil them in a pan with water and vinegar.

We had a weinie roast in the beautiful weather (which was temporary but was so nice while it lasted!)
Tessa and Mary. These little girls are only 3 weeks apart.

It was fun for the kids to hunt for the eggs.

The newest member of the family, Greta

The kids made ice cream (in the green ball that you roll around to freeze it.)
We celebrated Grandpa's 65th birthday.
Grandpa judged the cookies that everyone brought. Yummy!

Thanks so much, Mom and Dad for a wonderful day!

Chemo Day

It has been quite the day! The kids had spring break today. We met Karen about 7:30 this morning and she took Drew and Mary. We had to take 2 vehicles and leave one at the school because Dennis had a track meet in I.F. this afternoon and would need a way home afterward. Then we took Camille and Alexa to Julianna. We made on time to my 9:00 appointment!

First a nurse accessed my port to be ready for chemo after our visit with the doctor. I have been kind of concerned because I have had lots of discharge from the cancer and it is so stinky. It really bothers me. Yuck. Dr. Dickson checked me out and decided that is is time to move forward with scans and surgery. On Monday I will have an MRI and then a CT/PET scan. Tuesday I will meet with my surgeon and discuss the results and schedule surgery, probably for the following week.

As you can see, we really had a fun time with Jeffrey and Brandon. After a game of Skipbo, Dennis and the boys went to Walmart and Wendy's and brought back food.

While they were gone I had the fun opportunity of visiting with the Whitesides. They are a young couple with five children. She also has breast cancer. It is good to have someone to share experiences with. I feel so bad that she is struggling so much with chemo. It makes me feel guilty that I have had it easy compared to what she has gone through. I guess that "come what may and love it" also needs to apply when you receive wonderful blessings. But I do pray that she will have an easier time!

After chemo we picked up the girls and dropped Dennis off at his track meet. I went to Roberts for some scrapbook paper. Then we met Karen, Kirk and Kylee, who were on their way to BYU-I graduation for Chris and Taylor. They delivered Drew and Mary to us. Then we got gas and came home. We had missed our dinner ladies but Sari came with it when we got here. Valerie and Lori had cleaned our house this morning. It is beautiful. Oh that it would stay so nice!

Now I'm ready to go to bed. Dennis will be home soon!

Sleeping Drew, Makeup and a Couch

Remember this post? Here are a couple more sleeping photos. Yes, he actually fell asleep on the toilet! Poor little guy.
When will I learn to hang up my purse no matter what? Mary loves to go through it. Her latest is getting into my lipstick! Our neighbor, Joan, no longer needed her couch and gave it to us! I'm excited to get the new part done so we can get the piano and a few other things moved out of the family room so we have a bit more room for this very large couch. It is sectional. We love it! Do you like the barnyard scene? I think it is kind of cute! Mary loves to point to the animals and make their sounds.
